Derm Shield is a breathable, waterproof tattoo bandage that protects your new tattoo while it heals. It creates a sealed environment that keeps out bacteria and contaminants while allowing your skin to breathe and heal naturally. Follow these instructions for optimal healing results.
What is Derm Shield?
- Medical-grade, breathable adhesive bandage

Application Instructions
Step 1: Preparation
Gently clean and pat dry the tattoo and surrounding area. Ensure there is no soap, lotion, or any residue on the skin. The area must be completely clean and dry for proper adhesion.
Step 2: Cut to Size
Cut the Derm Shield to cover the tattooed area plus a 1"–2" margin from the edge of the tattoo. This extra margin ensures proper seal and prevents the edges from lifting.
Step 3: Peel & Position
Peel off the backing and position the Derm Shield over the tattoo with the adhesive side facing the skin. Make sure to center it properly before pressing down.
Step 4: Apply Pressure
Gently apply using light pressure, starting from the center to the edges to eliminate air bubbles. Do not stretch the Derm Shield during application — this can cause discomfort and premature lifting.
Wear Time Guidelines
First Application
The first Derm Shield application should stay in place for 24 hours, depending on the level of fluid exudation. It is normal for blood and fluids to collect under the bandage — this is part of the healing process.
Second & Third Applications
A second application can be used for several days, and a third application may be used if necessary. Gently clean and dry the area between applications.
Important
Do not wear any single piece longer than one week. If the bandage begins to lift, leak, or the fluid extends beyond the edge of the tattoo, it's time to change it.
Removal Instructions
To remove, gently peel the Derm Shield by pulling it slowly from the edge back over itself. Avoid pulling upwards as this can irritate the skin. Removing in a warm shower can make the process easier and more comfortable. After removal, gently wash the tattoo and continue with standard aftercare.
Cautions & Warnings

- •If allergic reaction or any irritation occurs, discontinue use immediately.
- •Consult a physician if reaction or irritation is severe.
When to Remove Early
Remove the Derm Shield immediately if you experience:
- •Excessive redness or swelling beyond normal healing
- •Burning, itching, or signs of allergic reaction
- •Fluid leaking from under the bandage edges
- •Signs of infection (pus, unusual odor, fever)
- •The bandage has significantly lifted or lost its seal
